Sprinco Buffer (Action) Springs

Details

Sprinco Springs are constructed from Certified Chrome Silicon wirestock to ISO 9001:2008 quality standards to withstand extreme heat and highly cyclic rate. The certification rating ensures a consistency in the parent material of 95%, which translates to repeatable consistency in performance & function. Certified Valve Quality Chrome Silicon wire is used in very high stress applications such as, NASCAR, Formula One, Moto GP & Pro Stock racing motor valve springs. It is not uncommon in some of these applications for valve springs to see 15,000,000 compression cycles in one race. It is this extraordinary capability that makes Chrome Silicon wire the obvious choice for Sprinco, compared to music wire or 17-7 PH used in OEM springs and by most aftermarket competitors.

In addition, all of Sprinco's Chrome Silicon buffer springs are heat treated, stress relieved, and dual-stage shot peened in separate post winding treatments. Each spring is also treated with a proprietary, deep-penetrating, Re-Micronized (to .3 Micron particle size), inhibited, Molybdenum-Disulfide (MoS2) formulation to eliminate 90% of all mechanical wear on the spring.

Standard AR15/AR10 buffer springs (aka "action springs") are wear items which must be replaced regularly in order for to operate reliably, with conservative replacement taking place every 5000 rounds. Sprinco action springs in comparison, are over engineered and will last over 500,000 cycles.

I was first clued in to these springs by former US Marine and US Army Special Forces solider and trainer Mike Pannone, and have run one spring on my main rifle since 2008. Despite a strong dry firing and live fire firing schedule (10-15K annually) this spring is still going strong! We at Weapon Outfitters fully endorse the Sprinco spring's performance and longevity.

Select from the following options:

  • RED:  Extra Power Spring

The option with the most spring tension, this spring is suited for rifles and carbines with excessive bolt speeds. This spring is suitable for 14.5"/16" uppers with carbine length gas systems (which are typically over gassed), all suppressed rifles, piston operated rifles, and 9mm conversions

  • BLUE:  Medium "Enhanced" Power Spring

A slight increase in spring power makes this spring suited for rack grade weaponry with normal operation parameters. 16" rifles with midlength gas systems, short barreled rifles with carbine length gas systems, etc.  The Blue is the most popular, and probably, most versatile.  If you plan to shoot 50/50 suppressed and unsuppressed -- pick up a Sprinco Blue.

  • WHITE:  Standard "Regular" Power Spring

Equivalent spring power of a "fresh" AR15/M4 carbine action spring.  The White spring is for users who do not want to introduce variables, rather just ensure optimal operation over an extended round count.  If running a reduced gas port barrel/gas block/gas tube, or some combination thereof, running a "Standard" power spring offers the best baseline for testing when trying to find that sweet spot of operation when tuning the gas system.

  • YELLOW:  Reduced Power Spring

Useful for undergassed rifles, such as some midlength gas rifles or "Dissipator" builds which is apparent with rifles that short stroke or have weak ejection patterns.  Also, if you are handloading and trying to run minimum power factor rounds -- a yellow spring can help you achieve more reliable cycling

AR-15 Rifle / Fixed Stock Spring

  • GREEN:   Rifle Length Spring

In addition to use in 5.56 Fixed Stock Rifles, the "Green Spring" is just the ticket for use in the VLTOR A-5 Stock System using their standard weight (5.2 Oz.) buffer for maximum versatility with almost any 5.56 upper barrel configuration, both with or without a “can”

AR-10/SR-25 pattern rifles

  • ORANGE:  .308 Extra Power Carbine Spring (DPMS/SR-25 Pattern)

The ONLY spring specifcally engineered for .308 Carbine Platforms that use 7" Depth M4 extension tubes and short 2.5" Buffers (including aftermarket "heavy buffers"), this list includes: DPMS, Bushmaster (Post 2010), Remington, CMMG, Mega, SA Defense, Colt 901, Rock River Arms, and more.  Useful for overgassed guns and essential for suppressed .308 shooting.

Heck of an upgrade

Posted by ARNIE | (Posted on 9/18/2019)

I bought two red springs for my Colt and BCM 14.5s. The recoil difference were really noticeable specially when firing suppressed. Definitely getting a couple more for my Colt 6921s. Highly recommended.

SBR build

Posted by Evan | (Posted on 12/15/2018)

I recently built an 11.5 in. SBR. As I kind of anticipated, I was over gassed and having frequent malfunctions. I bought the blue spring and paired it with an H2 buffer. Zero issues since. Great product, couldn’t be happier with the results.

Important upgrade

Posted by Justin | (Posted on 8/17/2014)

One of the best upgrades to your rifle without dumping hundreds of dollars, the Sprinco spring helps to improve performance by slowing down the action on most over-gassed carbines, reducing felt recoil, and lasts longer than your conventional springs.
