KAC - Knight's Armament Mk12 / Mk18 RAS Front Folding Sights

The legendary Mk 12 "Special Purpose Rifle" (SPR) and Mk 18 short barreled rifle are extremely different beasts that have seen frequent use in America's war on terror. The Mk 12 is a 18" precision and long range M16 variant, whereas the Mk 18 is a short, 10.3" barrel variant suitable for close quarters combat. Despite how different these two weapon systems are... they both utilize this legendary front sight.

The Knights Armament Corporation Mk 12 / Mk 18 front sight (part # 99051) is extremely low profile compared to other sights on the market, and features a shielded base to protect the front sight post. The front sight post is protected by the FDE or Black hard anodized aluminum base, and folds up for emergency use when neccessarry. It is adjusted for elevation in the same manner as the standard AR15/M16 front sight.

This backup front sight was purpose designed to be able to provide accurate close and long fire fire alike in the event of an optic failure on both a precision, and close quarters battle firearm. It is intended for use on weapons made for Special Operations Forces, but is now available for purchase by the general public!  The black sight was originally issued on the Mk 12, while the Taupe sight was issued on the Mk 18.

Ideal for clone builds or anyone looking for one of the most robustly built back-up iron sights, the RAS Front Folding Iron Sight is one of the best in class.

KAC MK 18 Front Sight

I really like this sight and its footprint on a rifle. This design allows for multiple mounting options which is nice for when space on your rail is limited. This is definitely on the pricey side for a front sight but they are a really nice sight.

Good Sight, could be better for the price

The sight does what is suppose to do. However, I purchased the FDE version and there was a nice dime sized dark ring on the front of the sight. Seemed like a problem in the finishing process. Not a big issue, but when you pay this much for a front sight you expect a little more.
